about the author

Karen is a first-time author with a passion for uncovering life’s hidden blessings. A natural optimist and storyteller, she has enjoyed writing for many years. Several of her articles have been published in a local magazine, including one titled “Behind Bars: Prisoners of the Covid Positive Test.” In this piece, she humorously recounts her “Corbin luck” when she and her husband, Paul, were unexpectedly confined to a luxurious 5-star hotel in Tuscany—with a balcony and gourmet room service—until they tested negative for Covid and could return home.

Now retired and living in a vibrant 55+ community near Tampa, Florida, Karen spends her time traveling, playing pickleball, solving Wordle puzzles, and embracing lifelong learning. Passionate about giving back, she leads the 100 Who Care Valencia Lakes giving circle, supporting local non-profits. She also directs a team that partners with a nearby elementary school to assist teachers and students, embodying her belief in balancing joy with purpose.

Karen is already brainstorming her second book, Unexpected Joy: Version 2.0, exploring the joys of life after retirement. She is also toying with ideas for a few short stories.
